STORIES FROM THE FRONTLINE: SAVING KOALAS FROM FIRES

Fresh from a tree-sit near Bellingen to save threatened species habitat from logging, Kai Wild drove 1500km to Kangaroo Island in January this year determined to use his arborist skills to rescue as many koalas as he could that may have survived the deadly fires.

Day after long day, Kai found distressed koalas in trees and brought them into care, helping rescue 107 in just over seven weeks. Over that time he used social media to document to the world the journeys of the rescued koalas, his own deep attachment to them, as well as the emotional toll that rescuing burnt animals from fires takes on wildlife rescuers. Now he's committed to continue speaking out about the plight of koalas and why it's so important we pull out all stops to save these precious animals.

This is one you won't want to miss!
