Just Legalise It!

Tell the Premier and Opposition Leader to Just Legalise It!

    Just Legalise It!

It’s Time to Legalise Cannabis in NSW.

Governments around the world are moving towards legalising and regulating cannabis. In many US states and in Canada, Uruguay, South Africa and Malta it's already legal, while Germany, Luxembourg and Italy are moving toward legalisation too.

We need to see the same here.

The Greens will introduce a bill into the NSW Parliament within the fist 100 days after the March state election that would legalise cannabis and see it regulated like alcohol or tobacco with users able to buy it from a store instead of the black market.

Because people are going to smoke weed no matter what. Legalising cannabis would protect users by introducing standards for growing and selling weed and it would shift profits away from organised crime and into much-needed social services while creating jobs.

So let’s do this. But first, we need to make sure the Government and the Labor Opposition know that community support is there to Just Legalise It!

    ----

The Greens Plan to Legalise It! would:

    • Legalise and regulate cannabis for adults in NSW
    • Reform Mobile Drug Testing to test for impairment instead of presence
    • Generate up to $9 billion in revenue over a decade for NSW
    • Allow households to grow up to 12 cannabis plants
    • Regulate cannabis products to reduce harms with health warnings, CBD/THC content labelling and prohibitions on advertising
    • Establish a NSW Cannabis Authority to regulate the cannabis market with the aim to reduce the harms caused by cannabis and prevent the dominance of the industry by large corporations
    • Allow for cannabis social clubs of at least 5 people which can grow 12 plants per member up to 200 plants
    • Extinguish past cannabis convictions
