Dan Andrews has just shown Chris Minns what leadership on pokies looks like with his announcement today that Victoria will adopt a suite of measures to tackle poker machine harm, including setting maximum daily limits and introducing a cashless card, said Cate Faehrmann, Greens MP and Gambling Harm Reduction spokesperson.

“Dan Andrews’ leadership on pokies reform now stands in stark contrast to Chris Minns’ go-slow, pretty much do-nothing approach here in NSW,” said Cate Faehrmann.

“NSW Labor should be embarrassed by this show of leadership by their Victorian counterparts.

“Some of these measures, such as limiting the hours which poker machines can operate and setting daily limits, are what gambling harm reduction experts have been calling on the NSW Government to do for years.

“Chris Minns needs to to stand up to the gambling lobby and put in place the measures that work now. That includes daily limits, restricting the hours that poker machines operate and introducing a cashless card. Victoria has just done this and NSW can too.

“Dan Andrews has just shown what leadership on pokies reform looks like. I urge Chris Minns to not waste another few years hiding behind his silly trial and act on pokies harm now,” said Cate Faehrmann.
