THE CLEARING OF OUR COAST: CALLALA FORUM
Dozens of small coastal communities in NSW are facing an onslaught of inappropriate and unsustainable development that will change the face of coastal NSW as we know and love it if we don’t stop it. Small coastal villages risk losing what makes them so special, including significant swathes of coastal bushland, home to many threatened species - precious habitat which is so much more important after the devastating fires. Many of these developments were approved decades ago and are planned to be built on floodplains or wetlands or in areas of high bushfire risk. Most villages too just don’t have the services and infrastructure to cope with existing demand, let alone from hundreds of new, often senior, residents.
This community forum is open to everyone and will focus on what communities are doing to fight back and what we need to do to win.
