BOOKKEEPER/FINANCE ASSISTANT - JOB WITH NSW GREENS MPS

Are you an experienced bookkeeper or account administrator and want to work with a team working together for climate, social and economic justice? Greens MPs Abigail Boyd, Cate Faehrmann, Jenny Leong and Sue Higginson are looking for a part-time bookkeeper to support the lodging, reconciliation and reporting of expenses and allowances.

This is the perfect role for a retiree or student, or somebody who’s looking for a part-time role because of caring responsibilities or to complement what they’re already doing. You strive for perfection in your work and thrive working with a high degree of autonomy. Experience or qualifications in accounting/bookkeeping are desirable but not essential for the right person.

POSITION DETAILS

Position title:

Bookkeeper / Finance Assistant

Primary location:

Flexible/remote

Status:

Permanent part-time

Remuneration:

$60 - $75k + super (pro rata)

Primary hours:

0.4 FTE per week (4 days per fortnight, flexible)

Probation: 

A three-month probationary period applies

Position begins:

As soon as possible

Core responsibilities

  • Processing income and expenses in Xero 
  • Managing and reconciling accounts payable
  • Processing member and employee reimbursements 
  • Preparing staff payroll inc. processing Super payments and Single Touch Payroll to ATO 
  • Submitting entitlements claims for reimbursement and/or payment via Zeno
  • Reconciling bank transactions
  • Preparing expense reports for the NSW Greens State Delegates Council
  • Liaising with Department of Parliamentary Services Members’ Entitlements team

Selection criteria

  • Experience in or knowledge in the end to end bookkeeping process including accounts payable, payroll, reconciliations and reporting
  • Software proficiency - you have experience using Xero (or knowledge of and ability to learn) and Excel
  • Attention to detail - you are detail oriented and never let things slip through your fingers
  • Communication  - you have excellent written and verbal communication skills and possess the ability to work with a range of people
  • Flexibility - you can balance competing priorities while working to deadlines
  • Familiarity with Parliamentary entitlements would be looked upon favourably but is not a requirement
  • Commitment to the Greens four pillars of Ecological Sustainability, Peace, Disarmament and Non-violence, Social Justice and Grassroots Democracy
