This event has been postponed until further notice. We will send out an invite within the next fortnight with a new date.
We are launching an exciting campaign against coal mining in Sydney’s Water Catchment and we need you to be a part of it.
Our drinking water is at risk. Water scientist Dr Ian Wright and his team have published research showing the alarming impacts of longwall mining on the Bargo and Nepean Rivers. Dangerous elements like nitrogen, nickel, zinc, arsenic and even uranium are being leached into the rivers which form part of the Hawkesbury-Nepean catchment.
What's more, mining under dams causes river beds to crack and our precious water to leak away.
Despite all this, the government has approved the expansion of the Metropolitan Coal Mine to begin mining directly underneath the Woronora Dam.
Join us for a Zoom campaign meeting for Greens members to find out what you can do as part of our No Mines Under Dams campaign.
